Band, *1983 US
Musician of Electronic, Hip-Hop/Rap and R&B/Soul
Freakwincey was formed in 1983 by Ray Billups. Ray grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey, listening to the funky sounds of George Clinton and James Brown. Ray and his guitarist, Gene, were strongly influenced by their relatives Ray Davis and Grady Thomas, members of the P-Funk movement. The band regularly performs around the world and has supported Alisha Meyers, Colonel Abrams, The Delfonics, Parliament Funkadelic, Portrait, Shante Moore, Morris Day & The Time, H-town and Blue Magic among others. Freakwincey hope to become a household name by entertaining the public with their eclectic style of musical genius (taken from the back cover of "I Farted" Maxi-Single, released in 1997 by Rephlex in UK).
