Subtitle: The Sacred Source - An Arctic Mass This mass is based on the South Sámi liturgy. The music for this liturgy was composed by Frode Fjellheim in 1995. The complete mass that is presented here, was first performed on the "Festspillene i Nord-Norge" festival in Harstad, Norway, in 2000. This mass draws on the musical traditions of Scandinavia's Sámi, Finnish, Norwegian and European populations. It is performed here by some of the finest artists working within these traditions today. Most of the lyrics are in the South Sámi language, but some are in Finnish, Norwegian, North Sámi and Latin. Recorded in Transjoik Studio, Trondheim, Norway, and New York, USA, 2001 - 2003. Some parts are taken from a live recording in Harstad, Norway, 2000. Additional recordings were made at Hønshuset studio, Bodø, Norway; at MIT studio, Trondheim, Norway; and at Musicmakers Studios, Helsinki, Finland, 2002 - 2003. Technicians: Frode Fjellheim, Rune Skogstad, and Are Simonsen. Mastering by Audun Strype. Made in Norway.
