Band, US
A.k.a. Black Albatross
Funeral Junkie was a Pakistani/American black metal/harsh noise band that existed from 2002 to 2006. The band was founded by Saquib Malik in 2002 while he still lived in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, his native country. After releasing the demo "The Surfaces Of Our Last Scattering" in 2005, he moved to the United States to attend Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. There he met musician Howard Change, who was at the time the vocalist in the black metal band Throne Of Mortality. Howard joined Funeral Junkie as the band's lyricist and vocalist, and ultimately left Throne Of Mortality in the fall of 2005 to dedicate himself to Funeral Junkie. In early 2006, the duo decided to change the band's name to Black Albatross, which remained active until 2010 with several more band members.
