Funk Dub Division

Funk Dub Division is a San Francisco-based music group that incorporates funk, dub, soul, hip-hop experimental, and electronica, citing influences such as Rufus, Black Uhuru, Miles Davis, Martin Denny, Ravi Shankar, and Lord Buckley. Using both real-time musicians and global file sharing, FDD is spearheaded by Dan Rielly and Bill Stefanacci. Rielly plays bass, guitar, and keyboards, and does arrangements and production. He has performed with legendary poet Allen Ginsberg as well as many San Francisco Bay Area music acts, notably Bjorn Baby Bjorn (an ABBA tribute band), Party of 5, and The Skoings (whose 7” picture sleeve 45 is a collector’s item). To Johnny J Blair "Singer at Large," Rielly suggested a funk-electronica-lounge-pop cover version of Harry Belafonte's “Love Love Alone,” which morphed into a collaboration with Davy Jones (The Monkees)--the track went on to a global reception. Rielly has also collaborated with hit lyricist/songwriter Barry Alfonso (Olivia Newton-John, Pointer Sisters). Stefanacci plays keyboards and does the sampling, production, dubbing, mixing, and arranging. In various capacities, he has worked with Sukavet Ali Khan, Hugh Masakela, Les McCann, Metallica, Judy Mowatt, Mutabaruka, The Persuasions (legendary vocal group), Third World, Ray White & the San Jose Symphony Orchestra, and Pamela Z. Stefanacci also creates film soundtracks and heads ESA Productions, a company that produces documentaries for television. He is also a noted theorist on physics, electronics, and psycho acoustics. Published in over 800 journals, his theories on sub-atomic particle/wave arrays in DNA are accepted by the global science community as the bridge between the material world and consciousness itself. His professional career in audio supports his passions of surfing, Japanese martial arts, and yoga.
