Band,
Czech female vocal group. The G*APEELS are a Czech female a cappella quartet made up by Gábina Hráčková, Petra Macháčková, Eliška Malá and Sabina Feldmanová, once characterized as a “phenomenon on the contemporary Czech musical scene“. These words come as more than a compliment to their exceptional sound, it is a well-deserved recognition of the power of genuine emotion which makes their performance quite an experience. The four young ladies formed their group in early 2001 when they decided to take part in a song contest on national television which they eventually won. They first came together as small kids in a children‘s choir called “Radost“ but they did not start giving public performances until the end of 2001. Today, the group can boast of numerous independent appearances and concerts as well as of doing back vocals for both Czech and foreign pop-music stars – that in addition to appearances in various television shows. In 2003, the G*APEELS produced their first demo CD. In spring 2005, their vocals graced a CD of Švihadlo, the best-known Czech reggae band. That project marked the beginning of a fruitful partnership which continues to this day. In September 2006 the G*APEELS released their second CD “čti [:džepíls:]” and two months later they performed as a support during the concert of the famous British band Chumbawamba in Prague. In 2008 the G*APEELS started to co-operate with Gipsy.cz, the popular Czech band bringing together two different genres - hiphop and traditional gipsy music. In spring 2008 Sabina recorded background vocals for the song "Am I Really" on the latest CD "Brant Rock" of the band 100°C and since then she's been joining them occasionally live on stage as well. During the year 2009 Sabina was also performing with the pop/jazz vocal group Voxtet. In May 2010 the G*APEELS started to sing back vocals for Prague based band Riddimshot which is currently backing U-cee (DE) and King Kalabash (FR). In September 2011 the G*APEELS welcomed a new member, Veronika Straková /Voxtet/, who temoporarily stands in for Sabina.
