Born in Dresden 27.05.1927 He studied Music (Conducting and Piano) at the University "Carl Maria von Weber", Dresden from 1947-1952. In 1948 he became part of the "Original Dixies - Dresdner Tanzsinfoniker" and since 1952 he have been the Band-leader of the well known Big Band "Dresdner Tanzsinfoniker". Within this Big Band he formed the "Günter Hörig Trio" and "Günter Hörig Quartett". Beside the Piano Hörig plays Organ and Vibraphon and he is known for many arrangements and compositions (also for television and Ballet). Today Günter Hörig still teaches Music at the "Musikhochschule Dresden" and leads the Students-Big Band.
