sax,
Musician of Hip-Hop/Rap, Rock and Brass
A.k.a. Philippe Rieger
Coming from a music-loving family, he began to practice saxophone in childhood and became passionate about hip hop and electro music. The discovery of the first software of computer music reveals to him a vast field of sound exploration. At the same time, he starts writing and quickly participates in various projects that allow him to develop his skills. The group of DJs "360 °", where he officiates as MC, puts his foot in the stirrup. He then joins "La Fanfare en Pétard", an electro hip-hop training that gives him the opportunity to deploy his talents. Singer soloist of the group, composer, author, saxophonist, he quickly takes part in the arrangements and the mixing of the albums. With the band, it covers nearly 600 dates, touring all over Europe, as well as in Ecuador, participates in the Francofolies of La Rochelle, the festivals of Glastonbury and the Isle of Wight. With his acolytes of the Fanfare, Gaston goes up "Notilus", fusion music group, conducive to a new excursion in the center of sound. His meeting with Dj Nelson plunges him into the middle of the scratch. Together they compose and release the vinyl "Building Bridges 4 Monkeys". A dark and sharp Breakbeat, a mine of sounds for platinists, scratchers and vinyl manipulators. Inspired by the expressiveness of hip-hop and always looking for new collaborations, he works on the album "Coup de Maillet" rapper Geabé. He makes several instruments and participates in the mix. Sensitive to the music of words, he also associates himself with French chanson artists, to whom he promises to offer a musical universe with a modern and mixed style. He works with Justine Bahl, as a co-composer, director and arranger, as well as with the Rose Babylone trio. Attracted by world music and travel, he meets rapper Bhau during a trip to India. He produced for him the single "Yuva Halla Bol" at Universal Music. In the service of the pleasure of the listener, he devotes himself to composition in the playful and virtuoso project of "The 13Looters", collective of creative beatmakers producing "real soundtracks of fake films". He appears on the compilations: "Frankie Chops and the last tape" and "Frankie Chops: the digger, the drifter, the trigger". A man of the stage, we find him on live shows mixing music and theater. He is the acolyte of Pauline Menesclou for "Izanami and Izanagi", Japanese tales that he illustrates live sound images inspired. By considering music as living matter, Gaston sculpts the sounds to better transcribe and inspire the emotions that cross us.
