Gabrielle Drake. Gabrielle Drake (born 30 March 1944) is a British actress. She became well known in the 1970s for her appearance in television series, most notably The Brothers and UFO. In the early 1970s she appeared in several erotic roles on screen. She later took parts in soap operas Crossroads and Coronation Street. She has also had a long career on stage. Her brother was the musician Nick Drake. She has consistently helped to promote his work since his death in 1974. And daughter to Rodney Drake & Molly Drake. Nick's older sister was born in Lahore, Pakistan on March 30, 1944. When she was four her brother was born and they lived together with their parents in Burma for some years, before they moved to England. From the age of six she knew she wanted to be an actress, so in her early twenties she studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, and in 1966 she made her professional debut as Cecily in The importance of being earnest. She moved to London where Nick would stay with her on some occasions before he began his own career. From the early days in her career she also got to play film roles, but it was in the theatre she made herself a name, appearing in West End productions of Jeeves and Noises off. The night Nick died she had just played Madeleine Bassett at the premiere of Jeeves. She is also known from TV-series like the popular four-times-weekly soap opera Crossroads, and the old cult series U.F.O., where she played Lt. Gay Ellis. In 1977 she married artist Louis de Wet, and they now live in a medieval abbey in the English midlands.
