The group Ganeša is named after Indian god Ganesha (or Ganesh), the Lord (Isha) of all existing beings (Gana), who has got the elephant head. Ljubiša Ristić (born in Niš) is son of a Yugoslav diplomat thus in sixties he has lived for some years abroad - four years in Vienna, Austria, and after that in India for four years, 1966 - 1970. From India Ljubiša Ristić has come back to Belgrade, in order to attend high school (8th Belgrade gymnasium), bringing a sitar and tablas with - instruments never seen before in Yugoslavia. He met the other group members in the gymnasium playing together in musical section, among them the only member except him who played and sang on all Ganesha releases (three singles) - Bojan Kveder. During his studies he met American student in Belgrade Julie Caringi and she fell in love with him because of his huge moustache (like of medieval Serbian prince Kraljević Marko). She played flute on Ganesha's first single. (They married 1979 and live together in New York.) The group attended Boom Pop Festival 1973 and, after the sound of the group gained big attention there due to its originality, they signed for PGP RTB and recorded their first single "Put / Mala Kola" = "Way / Little Dipper" in the following lineup: Ljubiša Ristić, Bojan Kveder, Julie Caringi and Slobodan Đurđević, supported by two Pop mašina members: Robert Nemeček (bass) and Zoran Božinović (guitar). In 1974 the group recorded the second single "Za usnule oči / Gubim te" = "For Eyes Fell Asleep / I am Loosing You" as trio - Miroslav Matovski sings and plays guitar and finally in 1975 on the last, third single "Galebov let / Ko je zaboravio da pozove Darija" = "Seagull's Flight / Who Forgot to Call Dario?"
