Gary Bovyer (born in Oakland, California) is an American clarinetist. He is the principal clarinetist of Santa Monica Symphony, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra (for 8 years) and the Long Beach Symphony (for 15 years) and was formerly a principal clarinetist of the Los Angeles Opera and the Jerusalem Symphony. In addition he was a member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. He is also a member of Pacific Classical Winds, a period instrument ensemble. Bovyer spends much of his professional time in the recording studios playing for soundtracks and albums. His work has been featured by film composers such as James Horner, David Newman, Danny Elfman and James Newton Howard, among others. He is married to Michele Bovyer, a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra's first violin section. They have two children, daughter Joanna and son Isaac.
