Single UK 2007 on Out Of The Blue label
Electronic (Synth-pop)
Limited edition record released by Collectables Magazine to celebrate 20 years of Out of the Blue Design Consultants. In total, there were 49 copies of the record, consisting of the following: - The first record was a single acetate/ lacquer/ dubplate 12" with two holes in the label area (one for the spindle and the other is used for locating the disc on the cutting machine). - While originally intended to be on blue vinyl (like the original 1978 pressing of Tubeway Army on Beggars Banquet), after a trial run of nine copies it was decided that the finished item was too difficult and expensive to produce. The nine copies that were pressed also demonstrated the weird phenomenon of marbling. - Ten white label black vinyl test pressings were also produced. - Finally, there was the 29 finished black vinyl pressings produced, each of which had to be signed and hand-numbered on both labels to match the individually hand-numbered sleeves. The 29 copies of the final run were promotional gifts for associates and clients of Out of the Blue Design Consultants. The edition number was set at 29 to mark the fact that it had been 29 years since Tubeway Army released their first single on the Beggars Banquet label (though 28 years since "Are 'Friends Electric?" was released). The 24th copy was auctioned off on eBay, with all proceeds going to the Australian Starlight Children's Foundation, and sold for £2,501.50 on 25th June 2007. An Out of the Blue pressing.
