German composer, born in Krefeld in 1965. Courses in composition with Klarenz Barlow, Brian Ferneyhough and Klaus Huber in Cologne, Royaumont and Paris. Since 1999 visiting scholar at CCRMA at Stanford, California; explores computer music and new sound phenomena by use of metal, wood and stone. For this purpose, he constructs new instruments for his pieces and programs his own software.
