American jazz tenor saxophonist, arranger and bandleader. His credits also include drums and piano. Born : July 31, 1915 in Miami, FL Died : July 15, 1985 in Chester, PA George led his own band, the Cavaliers, in the early 1930s (with Panama Francis and Grachan Moncur). He worked with drummer David Panama Francis, banjo player Zack Whyte (1938), Al Cooper And His Savoy Sultans, trumpet player Rex Stewart (1946), drummer Cozy Cole, guitarist Tiny Grimes, and many others.
