Album US 2014 on Blue's Mountain Records label
Jazz and Blues (Harmonica Blues, Smooth Jazz)
Born in the USA to a Palestinian father and American mother, George Bisharat made his first recording in 2002, playing harp on one track of the Otis Grand/Joe Louis Walker album “Guitar Brothers”. Otis invited George to contribute to another of his albums “Hipster Blues” in 2006 but it has taken a further eight years to see this debut CD appear. Big Harp George is a San Francisco Bay Area blues singer and harmonica player who features the chromatic harmonica. The “big harp” chromatic (compared to the ten-hole diatonic more common to blues) has a distinct voice, and, when played in different key relationships to songs, has untapped potential. George counts George “Harmonica Smith,” William Clarke, and Paul deLay as major influences on his chromatic playing. Big Harp George’s style is jazzy, urban, contemporary, and sophisticated - but gives up nothing in feeling and soul. The album was nominated for the Blues Award and the Blues Blast Award. *Blues Mountain Records first release.
