George Whitefield

1714-1770 GB, Gloucester

1717-1740. Contemporary and friend of Charles & John Wesley. Whitefield wrote several hymns. In 1739, Charles Wesley composed a hymn, "Hark, how all the welkin rings”. In 1758, Whitefield revised the opening couplet to "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing".
