French author, born 20 February 1888 in Paris, France and died 5 July 1948 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. His major works include 'Sous le Soleil de Satan' or 'Journal d'un Curé de Campagne' (Diary of a Country Priest). 'Dialogues des Carmélites' (Dialogues of the Carmelites), a screenplay adapted from Gertrud von Le Fort's 'Die Letzte am Schafott' (The Last on the Scaffold), was posthumously published in 1949 and became the libretto of Francis Poulenc's 1956 eponymous opera.
