Gerrit Den Braber



A.k.a. Gerrit den Braber Jan Willem Pilardus Lodewijk Post Paul Dertien Peter Cirkel

Radio DJ, songwriter and producer, born 23 March 1929 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, died 2 May 1997 in Hilversum, Netherlands. Often using an alias, Den Braber has (co-)written many popular songs such as Johnny Lion's Sophietje (1965), Conny Vandenbos' Een Roosje, M'n Roosje (1974) and Mouth & MacNeal's Ik Zie Een Ster (1974). In 1947 he was a co-founder of Rotterdam Hospital Broadcast (RANO, short name for Radio Noord). In 1955 he began working for Dutch Broadcast Society the AVRO. His most famous programm was "Rooster" in the mid sixties, with a panel judging the latest popsingles. In 1966 he became a producer for Phonogram. After he divorced he fell in love with famous Dutch songstress Thérèse Steinmetz. They started living together until his death in 1997.
