Gershon Agron

Mayor of Jerusalem from 1955 until his death on November 1, 1959. Gershon was born in Ukraine and immigrated with his family to the United States at age five. He grew up in Philadelphia, but during WWI he went to fight with the Jewish Legion in Palestine, where he eventually immigrated in 1924.
