Gerson "King" Combo is a Brazilian musician, one of soul music icons in the country where it is known by the nickname "James Brown Brazilian". Gerson was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, began the artistic career doing voice acting, the famous program "Today is Rock Day" presented by "Jair de Taumaturgo" then his brother Getúlio Cortes (author of "Negro Gato" a success in the voice of Roberto Carlos) took him to dance in the Jovem Guarda program, presented by none other than Roberto himself. Influenced by black music, Gerson sang in bands Erlon Chaves and Simonal, the band "Formula 7" and was part of the embryo of Banda Black Rio. Solo adopted the name Gerson King Combo (allusion to a band of soul music called King Curtis Combo). His style "James Brown" caused a sensation and was acclaimed King of Rio blacks balls in 1969 recorded the album "Gerson Combo Brazilian Soul" with versions of classic Brazilian music as Asa Branca Luiz Gonzaga, but his biggest hits were released in mid-1970s "Mandamentos Black" Jingle Black "and" O Rei Morreu", and his latest success was recorded in 1984, the compact" Melô do Mão Branca" the fall of the Black movement of the 1980s in the scenario music, Combo was ostracized. He returned in the 1990s doing some gigs and recording the album "Mensageiro da paz".
