Musician of Spoken Word, Electronic and Classical
German pianist and music educationist, born March 1st, 1918 in Oldenburg; died December 19th, 2014 ibid. She started first to play piano and organ, from which she later graduated. In 1943, she gained her first position as piano teacher and was later working with Eduard Steuermann, David Tudor, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Mauricio Kagel. Her teaching concept let her approach innovative ways for musical education. This gave her the possibility to educate at numerous German university (which she did until 2004 without a break). In the 1950's, she started cooperations with John Cage and Dieter Schnebel, she started to work for radio and TV and developed her theoretical consideration about musical education in a kind of avant-gardistical approach basing on the thoughts of Theodor W. Adorno, Bertolt Brecht and Walter Benjamin (2). Her first publication "Klangexperimente und Gestaltungsversuche im Kindesalter" became successful and described studies and methods of children's musical education, which are still well-established.
