Gesa Werhahn, born in 1975, studied at the Musikhochschule in Luebeck, piano, pedagogy as well as choral conducting at the School of Music and Theatre in Hamburg. Being at school she already occured as a pianist and piano attendant and was winner at the Federal Competition "Jugend musiziert". While studying music, the focus of artistic work with choirs and ensembles came increasingly in the foreground. Gesa Werhahn directed several musical theater productions and taught in the youth opera academy in Hamburg. Since 2003 she is artistic director of the Girls Choir Hamburg (Mädchenchor Hamburg) at the National Youth Music School and conductor of the Choir of the Hamburg Higher School of Fine Arts (Chor der Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg).
