Band,
Producer of Dance
After graduating with BA HONS in Timed Based Media at UWE, Sophie was snapped up by legendary ‘Booty Breaks’ Producer Deekline, to help run his five record labels; Rat Records, Booty Breaks, Hot Cakes, Jungle Cakes and Sludge. At the same time as being the brains behind Bristol booty bass collective and festival favourites ‘Octopussy’. With this experience gained and her first solo track ‘Seeking’ getting radio 1 play from Mary Anne Hobbs, setting up a studio in Berlin, all these were catalysts for her teaming up with Mai Harper, One4Ho was born. Following this she went on to be part of ‘Bubbz // Black Notez’ taking her out of the DJ booth and into a live setup, gigging on the London and UK circuit and festivals Oye, Euro Cultures to SXSW alongside Estelle & Mista Jam, and selling out their own gig at Hoxton Bar & Grill as well as collaborating on band tracks, a project with Adamski, and sharing lineups around the UK with Ed Sheeran, Ms Bratt, Mikill Pain & The Bays. When DJing & producing, Sophie performs under the alter ego of ‘Ghettozoid’ or as one half of DJ duo ‘Revolva’, playing a mixture of House, Techno, Chicago Footwork, Juke, Miami Bass and anything ‘Jacking’. Sophie’s skills gave her the opportunity to play at numerous club nights and festivals including; Cargo, XOYO, Glastobury’s Shangrila, Glade, Shambala, as well guest appearances in Germany and Sweden. Her latest release ‘Boy Toy’ (One4Ho) got the remix treatment from King Cannibal and was released on the mighty Rob Booth’s Electronic Explorations compilation. She is based in Berlin now, but makes trips back to London and providing us with the latest on music trends and events from Berlin. Words By: Jason Taylor
