Swiss anthropologist (1936 - 1998), also quena player, that he learned after staying some time in Bolivia and Chile. He specialized in those countries' culture and founded "Los Jairas". He was known as "El Gringo". He met Violeta Parra and both became lovers, starting a tempestuous relationship that ended on Violeta's suicide in 1967.
