Girl One And The Grease Guns
(Here Come The) Catastrophe Machines

Single UK 2013 on Squirrel Records label
Electronic and Rock (Synth-pop, Post-Punk, Minimal)

Limited 7" on black vinyl housed in a zip lock bag with photocopied sleeve and lyrics insert. Girl One And The Grease Guns continue to be: Sissy Space Echo Warren Betamax Charles Bronson Burner Bruce LeeFax Recorded in black and white (with the occasional splatter of red) at The Glass Factory, Summer 2013 Track durations taken from digital release Bands such as The Jesus And Mary Chain did it using guitars and a fuzz pedal, but Girl One And The Grease Guns use the crackle, fizz and white noise of old analogue synths to create their own brand of screaming feedback overkill on this, their latest 7" offering. Previous releases by this combo only hinted at their willingness to utilise noise and chaos, but (Here Come The) Catastrophe Machines delivers a full on sonic assault from its first few seconds, right until it fades out. It's angry, it's messy, it's a clear statement of intent....and yet you can still actually dance to it if you're feeling that way inclined. It is like that unhinged individual who has just gate crashed your party, is now threatening your guests and could very well end up shitting in the trifle. Someone said it is like Throbbing Gristle meets Eddie Cochran. It isn't really... but we like that description a lot, anyway. The flipside, in contrast, is another pure pop nugget entitled Hitting The Brick Wall. Driven along on ultra catchy keyboard riffs, chugging bass, and sounding quite a lot like early OMD in places, this one should please the Girl One And The Grease Guns fans who prefer a little more melody than menace. Everyone who places an order for the 7" through Squirrel Records will also receive both tracks emailed to them in MP3 form, and a Squirrel Records badge with the single when we post them out. Flipside of the 3rd 7" single from Girl One And The Grease Guns. Released on Squirrel Records, 2013. Recorded in black and white (with the occasional splatter of red) at The Glass Factory.
