Singer / Arranger / Producer of Pop and Rock
A.k.a. Glenvin Anthony Scott
Glen Scott (born Glenvin Anthony Scott on 29 August 1973) is an award-winning British producer, arranger, mixing engineer, singer-songwriter, and session musician. [From Facebook: Glen Scott is a Black British musician, singer songwriter & Music producer with a real passion for music and it's history. Glen Scott possesses the spirit and unfettered passion of a quintessential artist. His stylistic fusion of poetic, thought provoking, and optimistic lyrics, backed by pure unadulterated retro and modern soul, harkens comparison to such inspirational influences as Marvin Gaye, Isaac Hayes, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, and Funkedelic (interestingly ONE NATION UNDER A GROOVE was the first album Scott bought as boy at a junk store in London). Scott, Jamaican born, was raised in London, and was indoctrinated into playing music in his father’s church. By the age of nine, he had learned to play drums and Hammond organ, and also sang in the church choir. He has since added keyboards, guitar, and bass to his arsenal as a musician. His CD, TRUST THE DAWN, his debut on Hidden Beach Recordings, is the embodiment and stunning reflection of all of Scott’s innate gifts as a songwriter/poet, scintillating vocalist and performer, arranger, producer, and exemplary multi-instrumentalist. Scott was signed to the label after performing an electrifying live showcase via iChat in his home of Stockholm that literally blew away label honcho Steve McKeever and staffers who viewed it in their Santa Monica offices. Scott wrote, arranged and produced all (10) songs on the CD. The first single from the CD, DEEP IN IT, a heart wrenching pathos of unrequited love, was featured on the special Hidden Beach Vol 1 Valentine’s Day compilation CD, LOVE, PASSION, & OTHER EMOTIONS (Feb 1, 2011). The video became a favorite on VH1 Soul, Centric, Music Choice and YouTube. Scott made a brief promo visit to Los Angeles in support of the single, highlighted by live appearances at popular urban night spots, Jamie Foxx’s FOXXHOLE and R & B LIVE. His second single, SEND IN A LETTER, will be released in August, followed by the release of TRUST THE DAWN in October. Scott, along with his Manager Ramon Hervey II, (Babyface, Vanessa Williams, Sweet Honey In The Rock, Andrae Crouch), have also created and Co-Executive Produced a new webisode series starring Scott entitled, LIFE IS NO REHEARSAL. The weekly series will showcase and chronicle the challenges and behind-the-scenes strategizing facing an artist based in Stockholm, Sweden, a Manager in New York, and label in Los Angeles, to devise a global record/artist launch. The online series will be unveiled as part of his CD launch. Scott’s profoundly spiritual upbringing and his commitment to preserving the great tradition of R & B and Soul music, has provided the motivation to fortify his artistry over the past decade. He’s one of the most respected and in-demand multi-session musicians and arrangers in London, and has collaborated with a list of noted songwriter’s and artist’s, such as Craig David, James Morrison, Ron Sexsmith, Joshua Radin, Beverley Knight, and Eric Bibb. TRUST THE DAWN, continues his legacy as bona fide solo artist, which started with his debut album WITHOUT VERTIGO, released by Sony Music/550 in 1999. The title track (among other songs from the album) appeared on the soundtrack of the Laurence Fishburne movie, ONCE IN MY LIFE. It was also featured in the hit TV series, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (1997) and film, AFTER SEX (starring Brooke Shields in 2000). Other releases have included, DO SOMETHING, (EP, Sony Japan, 2001) and SOULRIDER (Sony Japan, 2002). DEAFENING SILENCE, (Sony/550/Sodarock, 2000), was released independently. Scott is currently a part of the Kensal Town Collective in London, recording, writing and producing acts such The Backstreet Boys, James Blunt, Lily Allen, Shane Filan to name a few whilst he completes his 5th Studio album.
