Brash, bold, rich in texture and drenched in soul, ‘Hypnotism’ is the lead off single for Glenn Morrison’s forthcoming club album ‘Dark Waters’ due in the fall of 2017. Reflections and ruminations make for a creative release, and ‘Hypnotism’ builds upon a repeating motif – there are at moments five melodic sublayers working in good harmony. A simple yet elegant approach with a nod to the psychedelic and goa styles, this release is a small taster of what the album holds for us. On the B side duties is the brilliant Italian composer Dusty Kid, whose latest addition to the Fall From Grace roster comes at a perfect time – with his intelligent, melodic composition he takes the record into another world with slight hints of Glenn Morrison’s original motif. Dusty Kid Dub remix is a twisted affair, with the absence of the melodic arpeggiated layers being replaced with bubbly robotic blip crescendos and disjointed laser squeals. On the final close of this release is the brilliant artist Morttagua. A resident at Green Valley and a heavy touring artist in his native country of Brazil, his interpretation of ‘Hypnotism’ is strong for the big venues and loud soundscapes. Rolling baselines and building melodic motifs stagger throughout the original ‘Hypnotism’ riff and this package has extremely gifted musicians essentially jamming and composing on top of riff after riff after riff.
