Band,
R&B/Soul and Rock
Founded by General Roos (Roger Verhaart) and Ro Krom in 1988. Inspired by performances from Trouble Funk and Chuck Brown, Gotcha! intent to rock the club circuit with their friends in the Netherlands. General Roos soon lefts and the new front man becomes Robadope Ro, while Rockatek Ten and Joep da Dupe join. From 1990 they start to be well known for their full-on energetic performances, raging for several hours, leaving the dutch club scene speechless. In the same year they record their first demo "Words and Music from the Lowlands" later released on 12" and their first album. While working on this album, George Clinton visits their studio and joins in on several tracks. All art work and videos are done by the group and they tour a big part of the European continent. A lot of people also work in other bands and in other musical directions. With so many personalties, almost daily performing and living the sex, drugs and rock'n'roll lifestyle to the fullest, the band soon falls into disagreements. The unity of the band starts to crumble and a fight of the band members during a performance ends this episode of Gotcha! Because of these difficulties the band suffers several complete melt-downs over a period of 15 years. But they keep producing, in different formations and also as members of other collectives. In 2009 they reunite as "the Gotcha-Allstars" and perform again in clubs and on festivals in the Netherlands. In 2010 they release "Imagine" with guest vocals by Mary Griffin, while in 2011 they intent to start producing new material. In 2015 they release a new album "Back To The Moon" and perform in clubs and on festivals in The Netherlands. Their music can best be described as a mixture of Trouble Funk and Funkadelic. Hard raw psychedelic funk fused with heavy gogo grooves and beats. On their facebook page they describe their music as "Futuredelic Rock 'n Roll".
