Born in London in 1957, he began his professional career studying to be an architect before switching to the music business in 1978. Initially a Press Officer for Pye Records, he later worked for CBS where he rose to become Head of Press. His later positions embraced the budget music market, holding key posts at Tring, Point, ABM and Pickwick. He has written countless sleeve notes (considerably more than are listed here) and written over thirty books about either music or sport. His latest book is the Motown Encyclopedia, published in 2014.
