San Francisco based lead singer/guitarist with Film School. Greg Bertens introduction to music began, aged 10, when he started taking piano lessons. He kept this up for a couple of years playing lots of ragtime and classical music. Whether it was the disillusionment of having to play music that wasn't really to his taste, we don't know, but whatever the reason, Bertens didn't touch an instrument again until 21. It wasn't until hearing Nirvana that Greg thought he'd love to be in a band and maybe even write music too. He'd never thought of myself as a musician before that. Nirvana became a huge influence on Greg, but strangely, it wasn't until he got over the idea of being the next "Cobain" things started to click. He started tapping into the music that influenced him as a kid Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Smiths, U2, New Order, Iron Maiden, as well as later bands like My Bloody Valentine and Nirvana. With this musical smorgasbord to nibble from Bertens began spending most of my time either playing music, listening to music, or working out melodies in his head, like at a job.
