Gregory de Rocher

*1972 CA, Toronto

A.k.a. Lowfish Pest(e)

Electronic musician born in 1972 and residing in Toronto, Canada. Together with associate Jason Amm (Solvent, Gregory de Rocher owned and operated the Suction Records record label until its demise in 2008. His productions are mainly known under the alias Lowfish. de Rocher had his earliest years plagued with hearing problems and confined to hospital sound testing laboratories monthly. Once cured, young de Rocher found sanctuary in the sound of music, and was particularly infatuated with his mom's disco 8-track of Giorgio Moroder's production masterpiece, Donna Summer's title "I Feel Love". On a subsequent visit to the Ontario Science Centre, de Rocher witnessed a modular synthesizer demonstration, where he made the connection between this machine and the punchy analog sounds that would later form the basis of his sound.
