Band,
R&B/Soul and Electronic
Funk rock and disco band largely active in the late 70sand early 80s. Greyship Daviz began in the mid-70s as a rock band but matured into a disco/funk group influenced by artists like Mother's Finest, Funkadelic, and Earth, Wind, & Fire, they moved into a more funk-rock mode by 1977. Members typically took stage names that were comprised of their real first name and the fictional "Daviz" last name. The name Daviz was derived from their first singer, Davis, when the group was called Greyship & Davis, and then just Greyship Davis. When Davis left the group, the band altered the "last name" to Daviz. Members Keith Alexander (Kid Daviz) - Guitar Kevin Coleman (Cap Daviz) – Guitar & Vocals Timmy Houpe (The Muscle) - Drums John Stevenson (Johnny Daviz) - Bass Jay White (Jay Daviz) – Rhythm Guitar & Vocals Billy Gooch (Billy Daviz) – Lead Vocal & Percussion Cornel Scott (Cornell Daviz) – Keyboards & Synthesizers Linus Harriston (Linus Daviz) – Hammond B-3 & Vocals Rico Fillmore (Rico Daviz) - Percussion Robert Rodgers (Bobby Speed) - Keyboards & Synthesizers
