Black metal band formed in Caldas da Rainha (Portugal) by Koraxid (drums, vocals) and Azarath (guitar) in May 1997. In 2000 Azarath moves to Spain and the band's activity slows down for several years, with only sporadic rehearsals with the original line-up. Grievance becomes more active again between 2006 and 2008 when they also record their second demo, but due to the distance between the members, its activity slows down again. Eventually, Grievance ceases to exist as regular band and becomes a solo project of Koraxid in 2011. The band's name was given by Koraxid and comes from the lyrics of the song "The Burning Shadows of Silence" from Emperor's album "In the Nightside Eclipse".
