Griffar from France was formed in 1997 by members Hellskrim (vocals, guitar), Drakhian (guitar), Krakken (bass) and Maldoror (drums). In 2000 they released the demo "Of Witches and Celts", a four song demo which lasted 50 minutes. The band got very positive responses and reviews. They have even been compared a lot to the Swedish band Dissection, but mostly because of their atmosphere and sound. In 2002 they eventually re-released "Of Witches and Celts" thanks to ISO666.
