The ensemble, known as the “Dušan Skovran” String Orchestra, after the name of its founder, the late Prof. Dušan Skovran, was originally formed in 1965 from the best string players in the Faculty of Music in Belgrade’s University of Arts. The orchestra became a full-time professional chamber orchestra in 1980. Aleksandar Pavlović continued to work with the orchestra after the death of Prof. Skovran in 1975 and Obrad Nedeljković has been the Music Director of the ensemble since 2003.
