Guido Harari

Photographer. In the 1970s Guido began his twofold career as both photographer and music critic, with his first assignments for the weekly Giovani in Italy, and he regularly contributed a music review column to the monthly Discoteca Alta Fedeltà. He followed on tour Genesis, John Mayall, Alexis Korner, Santana, Frank Zappa, Area, PFM, Banco and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. During this period Guido produced his first record covers, which included Klaus Schulze's Moondawn. Guido made his first journey to the USA in 1982 for a cover story on Frank Zappa for Uomo Vogue, and for a reportage on Dire Straits recording their Tunnel Of Love album in NYC. He also regularly contributed interviews and photographs to such magazines as Rockstar and Linea Italiana. During the 1990s he toured constantly with rock celebrities and over the years created many Italian record covers, such as Claudio Baglioni's Afterhours. Internationally, he produced album covers and tour photography for Kate Bush, David Crosby, Dire Straits, Duran Duran, Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, B.B. King, Ute Lemper, Little Steven, Paul McCartney, Pat Metheny, Michael Nyman, Lou Reed, Santana, Simple Minds (in 1991 his pictures of the Scottish band are featured in the The Art of Selling Songs exhibition at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum), Frank Zappa and others. In the 2000s Guido edited Fabrizio De André and in 2006 launched The Blue Room, a new exhibition of his music portraits.
