Musician / Composer / Conductor of Classical
Guido Santorsola (b. November 18 1904 in Canosa di Puglia , Italy , d. September 24 1994 in Montevideo , Uruguay), a South American composer and conductor. In his youth he lived in Brazil; then he studied violin and composition in Europe, including the Trinity College of Music in London in 1922. He left Europe in 1925 and returned to Brazil. He later lived in Uruguay . He composed mainly for the guitar. One of his most well-known works is "Giga". His compositions, which include guitar music and several concertos, use a mixture of Brazilian folk music and modernist techniques.
