Formed at school 1988/1989?, the Cwmbran band had the intial line of: Richard Thomas: guitar & vocals Keith Berrow: bass Paul Wellsby: drums (Occasional inclusion of horn section) Influences at the time I would say were Big Black, Sonic Youth, Rudimentary Peni etc and they did a few mesmerising shows at TJ's and Brahma and Liszt in Newport (I remember Tom wearing his school uniform screaming with a hanky stuffed mouth into the microphone, while a tuba led horn section accompanied Keith's bass in a Sonic Youth vs Swans mash up). The band unfortunately split when everyone went off to college. A few years later (1991/1992) the band members returned home and reformed with a different line up: Richard Thomas: vocals Keith Berrow: bass Neil Griffith: guitar Andrew George: drums They kept a few of the old songs, but the addition of Neil's guitar gave them a heavier Melvins sound, and George's jazz style of drumming added to their uniqueness. A Melvins meet Rudimentary Peni blend. An opportunity arose to record them at this time at Grass Roots studio, Cardiff in 1992, with Paul Durrant. Tom was a big Aphex Twin fan at the time hence the studio inclusion of his Moog. It wasn't until 1995 there was money to put this out as the B side of the S&M 001 comp. By then the band had split, Tom was doing his solo experimental stuff as Containers (which turns up on the album as the 'Gurlz' track) and the rest of the guys went on as Chang, with the Hang Ups vocalist, Mr Dave. Tom later moved to London and had stuffed released as 'Richard Thomas' on the Lo Recordings and Leaf labels and has worked with Squarepusher amongst others.
