A.k.a. Gunnar Gunnarsson
Gunnar Gunnarsson. Orgel. Gunnar Gunnarsson began his music studies in Akureyri, but later on completed a cantor degree from the Icelandic National Church Music School 1988 and a final degree in music theory from The Icelandic Music Academy 1989. He taught music at The Music School of Akureyri for several years, played with various bands, as well as being church cantor. In 1993 he published his research thesis on psalmes under the title The Weyse manuscripts and Choralbook for Iceland. Gunnar has been cantor at Laugarnes Church in Reykjavik since 1995. For many years Gunnarsson has also played the piano and worked with many Icelandic musicians and singers. He has given concerts all over Iceland and also abroad. Apart from religious music he plays a lot of folk and jazz and even has his own jazz trio.
