A.k.a. 果敢
Guo Gan (b. 1968) is a Chinese-French erhu player who currently lives in Paris. He started learning a traditional two-stringed bowed instrument in early childhood with his father Guo Jun Ming (1940–2010), also a renowned erhu master. Guo Gan continued his studies at Shenyang Conservatory of Music and L'École Nationale De Musique in Fresnes, where he took lessons in jazz percussion. While living in Paris in the early 2000s, he also founded Dragon Jazz, the first Chinese jazz group. In 2002, they won the second place at the European-Chinese Competition in Belgium. The artist had been performing with many renowned musicians, such as Lang Lang, Yvan Cassar, Nguyên Lê, Didier Lockwood and Jean-François Zygel. Guo Gan recorded over forty albums and gave nearly 2000 concerts in 70 countries.
