Argentinian bandoneon player. From a press release found inside a copy of the 'Bandoneón' LP "Gustavo Toker is a Bandoneón player, composer and teacher born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1959. As part of the new generation of Argentine musicians, he reflects in his work the music of argentine folk (including tango) also with influences of jazz, modern music, rock, etc. Since 1982 he has been performing concerts in different places of Argentina. In 1988 with his group "Semblanza" he won the first price at the famous nationwide folk festival of Cosquin in the category "instrumental music". Since this year he also has done European tournees with exelent critiques, playing at different major events: Copenhagen, Helsinsky (Jazz Festivals):Latin America days, Amsterdam; Latin America Series, Vreidenburg, Utrecht; Holland Festival; Politic Song Festival, Berlin; NDR Radio Big Band, Hamburg; etc. Since 1990 is part of the LeOn Gieco Band, one of the most popular singers from Argentina, touring in all this country and also Brazil (Memorial, Sea Paulo) and Paraguay (Song Festival, Ipacarai). At the present he is working in projects inserting the bandoneon as a new ethnic sound in different musical fields."
