Swiss trumpet and tuba player, born 31 March 1955, in Courtepin (CH) Guy Michel started playing trumpet at the age of 10 at the Conservatoire de Fribourg. In 1975, he obtained his teaching diploma. He continued his career as a trumpet player with the Bienne Orchestra, and temporarily with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. In addition, he had the opportunity to play with several brass ensembles, including the "Branimir Slokar Brass Ensemble" and the "Quatuor de cuivre de Fribourg", with which he recorded. In 1987, he began tuba studies at the Musikhochshule in Stuttgart. In 1991, he won first prize in his virtuosity exam. He currently plays as tuba player in the Poly Brass Quintett, or sometimes, soloist with piano and orchestra. While teaching at the Conservatoire de Friburg and at the University of Arts of Berne, he completed his musical training by devoting himself to the direction of brass band and choir. Guy Michel is the brother of Jean-François Michel (2) and Matthieu Michel.
