Folk and Children's Music
Gwenda Owen was born in 1965 and brought up in the warm home of the Capel Ifan farmhouse in the village of Pontyberem in the Gwendraeth Valley, an area that is very close to it, and an area that Gwenda considers it as "the world's greatest place." She went to the infant school in Pontyberem, and then went on to Gwendraeth High School, but her interest in singing began to appear long before going to secondary school. Gwenda began to sing when she was only six, with the chapel and Sunday school, and local eisteddfodau as well. She was very fond of singing, and she had a lot of opportunity to sing and act at school.
