Hans Rudolf 'Ruedi' Giger was born in Chur, Grisons Canton, Switzerland, February 5, 1940. He died on May 12, 2014 after a fall. Giger was a Swiss surrealist painter, best known for his creature design on the 1979 film Alien as well as album artwork for the likes of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Celtic Frost, Deborah Harry, Dead Kennedys and Danzig. He has also designed stage sets/props for artists such as Mylène Farmer and Korn's Jonathan Davis.
