Places & Spaces combines the arresting vocals of Anneke Kampman (Conquering Animal Sound – shortlisted for Scottish Music Industry Awards album of the year award 2011) and the sweeping guitars of Haftor Medbøe (Haftor Medbøe Group) with special guest saxophonist, Konrad Wiszniewski (Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Brass Jaw). The hour-long song-cycle fuses the sounds of nature with human intervention, the acoustic with the electronic. Rhythmic backings for the nine-song set were recorded in Scottish woodlands using found materials and environmental sounds, with bass provided by a vintage analogue synthesiser.
