Rock, Folk and World
Half Way Station is an independent band and production company from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The music they make is described as 'psychedelic indie folk'. They combine an American folk sound by using a slide guitar and shrill banjo with synth drones, piano and vocal harmonies. Their songs have a basis of trance blues with lyrics about longing and can be pretty intense. The band is: Elma Plaisier (vocal, bass, synth, blues harp, accordion), Rikke Korswagen (vocal, guitars, banjo), Mink Steekelenburg (piano, synth) and Bart Hoogvliet (drums, omnichord). Besides musicians, the band has a dancer, Alina Fejzo (IT), who develops choreographies with their music. First time the band got together with her, the song "Alina" was written and recorded.
