Czech-German composer, born in Prague November 30, 1899, died October 17, 1944, in KZ (concentration camp) Auschwitz-Birkenau. Renowned for his opera for children Brundibár and his Christian Morgenstern (2) compositions. He also composed the opera Verlobung im Traum (Betrothal in a Dream), premiered in 1933 by George Szell, one symphony and chamber music.
