Harald Foss
Harald Foss records are known for his old Norwegian folk music, as well as composing new music inspired and influenced by the old music traditions in Norway and the Western Islands. The music and the instruments date back to pre-Christian and medieval times. Together with his wife, he forms the project Legende.
However, he has also been involved in a variety of musical styles playing live in the Telemark scene–such as rock, bluegrass, and Celtic folk.
Some melodies and lyrics have been collected from Norway and Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Orkney, and other islands in the North Sea. Lyrics are in Old Norse, Norwegian and assorted Norwegian dialects.
Harald Foss appears in the trio Harald Foss, Lasse Stang and Stein Villa on the album Skald, while he plays with his wife Mari Foss on the albums I Vesterveg and Med århundrers klang.
