American actor, director, producer, screenwriter and stunt performer born April 20, 1893 in Burchard, Nebraska. He ranks alongside Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton as one of the most popular and influential film comedians of the silent era. From 1914 to 1947, he played in about 200 films, 60 between 1914 & 1917. He died March 8, 1971 in Beverly Hills, California.
