Harris Chalkitis is one of the biggest talents of his years. Composer,orchestrator,singer but first of all a great musician. He is the creator of "Queen Samantha" and the show player of many music instruments; piano, guitar, saxophone, drums, percussion and many more musical instruments.. A real artist. He was born in Cairo, Egypt. At seven years old he went with his parents in Greece. From his first steps in life he shows a strong interesting in music.. In 1961, Harris is in Greece and he participates in a group named PLAYBOYS. This was a famous pop group which guested two famous greek singers, Dakis and Filippos Nikolaou. Next years find him in Sweden. He cooperates with many local groups. He plays in several groups in Greece. He created and was a member of Aphrodite's Child, the famous group with Demis Roussos, Vangelis Papathanasiou and Loukas Sideras during 4 years. Chalkitis collaborates with them in album 666. His collaboration with Demis Roussos keeps up after the end of Afrodite's Child. Chalkitis is in France now,he writes songs for Demis,he making programming in his discs and he organises his performances all over the world. He composed for many famous french artists, among them: Mireille Mathiew, Nicolette, Dalida. Moreover, he composes songs for singers all over the world. He's first album "So long" as singer and composer has just been producted and is released in almost all the countries in the word. In 1976 he wins the first award in a famous French festival named ROSE D'OR. Although he is very famous in Europe he doesn't forget his country, Greece. In 1977 he makes an attempt to insert in greek discography. Also he writes songs for Fillipos Nikolaou. In 1982 he shines as a singer in SEOUL SONG FESTIVAL. n early eighties he decides to move to Greece. The next years his cooperations with greek artists are many and very important for his career. In 1986,he cooperates with Stamatis Craounakis,a famous greek composer,at the album "Birimpa" (the first album of a greek singer called Polina).The mext year he takes part as a composer in her second gold L.P. "Pame gia treles stis Seyhelles". In 1989, he writes 8 songs for the album "Pehnidi me ti fotia" of Dakis.The song "Alaloum" reaches No1 on greek charts. In 1990, she composes and orchestrates the album "Ela Tora" in latin rythms with Zanet Kapougia (a singer who cames from South Amerika but she lives in Greece) The songs "Ela tora","Mi m eknevrizis","Ke me pas opou thelis" become very popular. In 1991 he releases his personal L.P. "Kaftes Vradies".The same named song,a duet with Constantina becomes very popular. She also gives songs to Polina for his album "Stin polithrona tin bamboo". In 1992 he cooperates with Dakis for one more time (L.P."Tsai me lemoni") and he gives his song "Chronia mas polla" in gold album "Esthisis" of the well-known greek singer Mando. In addition to this he writes songs for the L.P.s "Sismos erotikos" and "Olo ke pio poli" with Efi Sarri. In 1993 he composes for the first album of Athina Mavromati, entitled "Zali". Lyrics by Panos Falaras. The next year he releases his personal L.P. "Mazi arga i grigora tha ginoume ano kato". Lyrics was written by Antony Papas. The ballad "Pare me psila" becomes a very popural song. The same year he follows well-known singer Evridiki in Eurovision Song Contest as the leader of vocals group.(*I have to write that in the last years he had made vocals in discs of almost all greek singers. For example I mention some names: Keti Garbi, Thanos Kalliris, Mando, Paschalis, Sakis Rouvas, Dionisis Schinas and many more) Simultaneously he writes the music for the first album of his daughter Victoria, entitled "Erotas Ine" (Lyrics by Natalia Germanou) and the album "Ripsokindini agapi" of Lilian. In this album he participates as a singer. In 1996 he makes the second Victoria's L.P. (entitled "II") as well as he composes the albums:"Krifa Taxidia" (of Constantina's brother Antros Konstantinou) and "I proti mou fora" of Amanta. A few months ago the cd-single "Anemos" was released by the new artist Yiorgos Katsinis. Music and lyrics was written by Harris Chalkitis. The whole CD of Yiorgos Katsinis was released recently entitled "Chalasmos". Chalkitis wrote the music for the songs "Afiste tin na figei" & "Tha magapas". Harris Chalkitis composes a lot of jingles for radio and tv. Finally he takes part as a musician in many performances. I have to mention his participation in great performance "Marinella in Rex"...
