Dream pop / post-punk / psych rock/ band from Portland, Oregon. Formed in Chicago, Illinois in 2004. The official band name is in upper case, HAWKEYE. At first Hawkeye was just the solo recording project of Matthew Bernard Strange. Strange started writing songs and recording them on a 4-track tape recorder by himself, and some proper demo's at Sound Arts in San Francisco, where Strange lived for a year in 2006-'07 before moving to Portland, Oregon. It was in Portland that Strange formed the project into a band. The first year of the band consisted of many member changes, with Strange keeping the band together with the help of founding member Nora Murphy Hughes(bass). Then in the winter of 2009 Strange started collaborating with Nora Murphy Hughes, Jason "Plucky" Anchondo (formerly of the Warlocks and Spindrift) on drums. Travis Hendricks (keyboards), Trevor Greely (rhythm guitar, Sarah Jane McKinley on tambourine, and Paul Dillon on 12 string guitar soon joined, and the band shaped it's sound into what is now. Members: Matthew Strange (vocals / guitar), Paul Dillon (Guitar), James Collette (Bass), Eric Rubalcava (Drums).
